Hi friends! Last week on my instagram I asked you if you’d like the next tutorial to be a crochet project for your neck or a crochet pattern for your head… and you voted neck! So here is an easy infinity crochet scarf pattern that can be done in a night, yay!

This infinity scarf pattern features 2 sizes, a small and large. I also added a twist to the small size to keep it closer to my neck for warmth. Here is a side by side photo of the scarves so that you can compare and decide what you would like to make.

I chose a variegated yarn for this pattern. Variegated yarn really makes for a dynamic look when you are making projects like my Basic Crochet Scarf for Operation Gratitude.

When I was browsing the yarn aisles at hobby lobby and I saw this yarn, I thought it would be a great choice for a scarf or shawl tutorial in the fall season.

Here is how it looks as a ball, and you can see how it turns out once stitch. This is the Red Heart Roll with It Melange in the color Theatre. It was $6.99 at hobby lobby and was 30% off. This yarn style is at lots of other stores though too 😉

My favorite thing about this scarf is that you can make it in one evening – it works up super quick. The large size took me about 3 hours start to finish. Small crochet scarf size is even faster.

Choose a larger ball of yarn like I did, and you only need one for this scarf. I already had the crochet hook I needed, so this project cost me $5 – yes!

Materials

Yarn of choice (2 smaller skeins or 1 larger skein) - I used Red Heart Roll With It in the color Theatre. It's a size 4 and the ball has 389 yards. That is a large ball and would be plenty for either the small or large size. If you pick a yarn that has a smaller amount (150 is a common amount), buy 2.

Crochet hook recommended on the yarn label (you can go up one size if desired)
Yarn Needle
Small scissors

Instructions

Decide weather you would like to make the small or large size scarf. Here is a photo to compare.
Create your foundation chain. Ch 100 (or 35 inches) for large size and Ch 90 (or 30 inches) for small size. If you would like to make different size, make sure it is a multiple of 2.
Once you have reached your desired size, place two double crochet (dc) in the 4th chain from your hook.
Skip a chain and 2dc in the next chain, skip a chain and 2dc in the next repeating all the way down the foundation chain.
Once you get to the end place only 1 dc in the last foundation chain. After your last v stitch there should be 2 chains.
Chain 3 (counts as a dc) and turn your work.
Place 2 dc in the middle of each v stitch from the previous row.
At the end of row 2, place 1 dc in the turning chain from previous row. Repeat row 2 until scarf reaching desired width.
Crochet until scarf reaches 7.5 inches wide (Large) or 9 inches for small. Do not cut your yarn to fasten off
You can keep the scarf straight or add a twist. See the video section for a quick video on how to add the twist. I added a twist to the small size so that it sat closer to my neck.
Once you have decided how your scarf will lay, slip stitch the two short ends together. You want to insert your hook along the side of the scarf, inserting your hook under strands from both sides, yarn over and pull all the way through.
Here is how your seam should look. You may also use a long strand of yarn and sew the ends closed with a yarn needle.
Weave in your tails with a yarn needle and trim.
