Doomsday Krok Gauntlet - Final Bastion (2024)

A surprise recently hit the Spiral, sure to entertain many wizards, and most of all, us Whovians. The Doomsday Krok Hoard Pack arrived in the Wizard101 Crown Shop. With it came the Doomsday Krok Gauntlet, a dungeon with a Krokotopia and Doctor Who theme.

As one might recall, we already have the Five B.O.X.E.S. event in the Spiral. It features dungeons in the worlds of Wizard City, Marleybone, Mooshu, Zafaria and Avalon. However, we now have a dungeon just for Krokotopia. Unlike the B.O.X.E.S., which are accessed during a temporary event, this dungeon is a housing gauntlet! Best of all, it has that Doctor Who theme that simply makes it my absolute favorite, due to my love towards the series!

Doomsday Krok Gauntlet - Final Bastion (2)How can I acquire the
Doomsday Krok Gauntlet?

There are two ways one can currently obtain this dungeon. The first option is to purchase it from the online store on Wizard101’s website. For $39 you can purchase 7,500 crowns and the gauntlet itself. You can also obtain the necessary reagents to craft the gauntlet. These reagents, Time Limes, drop solely from the matching pack. The recipe is as follows:

  • 20 Time Limes
  • 10 Alternate Limes
  • 5 Parallel Time Limes

The Time Limes are the most common of these reagents, followed by the Alternate Limes and then the Parallel Limes. You can also transmute the rarer reagents from normal Time Limes using the following recipes:

  • 8 Time Limes = 1 Alternate Time Lime
  • 5 Alternate Limes = 1 Parallel Time Lime

The recipes for the gauntlet and the 2 transmutes can be obtained from the Shopping District’s Lloyd Fallingwater by the fountain. Following the Spring 2023 update, you can also use Aqua Fortis (20x), Aqua Regia (10x) and Aqua Vitae (5x) reagents to craft the gauntlet. Transmute recipes follow the same pattern as above, and can be found at Lloyd Fallingwater.

Personally, I decided to opt for the crafting option. It took me a while to obtain all the reagents, not gonna lie there, but I also obtained a lot of cool items in the process. I decided to spend 30,000 crowns on this pack. This got me all the reagents, all the gear besides two pieces, 4 permanent mounts, and 4 scarab pets. Not to mention, the bonus spellements that will come in handy later on. In the future, we might also see the reagents dropping from events, such as the Scroll of Fortune, but I reckon that will come much later.

The Story

If you want to experience the story first hand, I suggest you scroll down a bit further and skip this part. It all begins with us meeting the Professor inside the Tardis… errr Box! Albeit, not everything is as we’d expect. The Professor now has a different regeneration. To those of you unfamiliar, the Professor in Wizard101 refers to the Doctor, who is an alien, that, instead of dying, regenerates and changes its form completely.

Regardless of all that, an incident occurred that caused the causality vortex around Krokotopia to de-timalize (don’t worry if you don’t understand this bit, no one really does). This leads us to travel back in time to the world of Krokotopia to search for anomalies.

To Krokotopia!

The Box lands us in Krokotopia’s Oasis, but something is very different. For starters, the Tuts (or as we know them – the cruel masters of ancient Krokotopia) are still awake and forming Immortal Tut Empires. Oh and on top of that, Krokotopia’s hub got a stunning visual and audio revamp! As we know through Krokotopia’s questline, the Tuts should remain in the Great Sleep. They shouldn’t be awake, running around, forming empires. Furthermore, we find ongoing Mander rebellions as well as a friendly librarian – Zan’ne (with updated graphics).

Our investigation leads us to discover that some sort of powerful wind altered the timeline to that of another one which doesn’t match our journey in Krokotopia. The Professor realizes that this is the work of none other than a Time Butterfly. A creature like this can “create a typhoon on the other side of the space continuum.” More simply, it can change time. This references the “Turn Left” episode of the modern Doctor Who series, where a Time Beetle managed to create an entire parallel world simply by making someone turn left instead of right at a given moment.

In our context, the Time Butterfly made Krokopatra flee from the Temple of Sands, causing her to miss the great sleep. Thus, she can build an empire, continuing her reign of terror. It is up to us to undo all of this by stopping the Butterfly from doing any further damage and then returning everything to how it is supposed to be. Thus, we’ll ensure our timeline remains unaffected. Unfortunately, we end up in the Valley of the Sun rather than the Temple where the butterfly is located due to “the Box’s precise travelling“.

Will we manage to save the day and find the Butterfly? Only one way to find out! Geronimo!

The Doomsday Krok Gauntlet Battles

This gauntlet has various tiers of difficulty, depending on the lowest level wizard. Let’s focus on the Tier 5 version.

  • Tier 1 – Levels 1-25
  • Tier 2 – Levels 26-50
  • Tier 3 – Levels 51-75
  • Tier 4 – Levels 76-100
  • Tier 5 – Levels 101+

Altogether, there are 5 battles to complete in order to finish this dungeon. On top of that, there is also a secret battle where you get to fight four bosses for a chance to get a permanent mount as a drop. Let’s take a quick glimpse at all the battles and detail any cheats or anything noteworthy you should know before diving in.

1) Krokocutioner Minions

Doomsday Krok Gauntlet - Final Bastion (12)

The first fight features two different classes of mobs, Storm and Death. Together, they can do some serious damage. Their HP varies from 3,610 to 3,825 and I noticed no cheats in this battle.

2) Empress Setesh & Company

Doomsday Krok Gauntlet - Final Bastion (13)

Honestly, this one is not so different than the previous battle. The minions can be tedious, though. They tend to spam Elemental Shields and several different versions of Weakness. Other than that, it is a regular minion battle you could take out in one to two rounds with a team. Note that Empress Setesh has shadow magic at the highest tier. Her HP is 4,300, with the minions at 3,825 HP. No cheats observed.

3) Krokhotep

Doomsday Krok Gauntlet - Final Bastion (14)

A regular Ice school boss with 13,190 HP and no minions. Seems pretty straightforward as a fight, just beware of Tower Shields and the occasional Frost Giant.

4) The Karanahn Family

Doomsday Krok Gauntlet - Final Bastion (15)

You might recall seeing these not-so-friendly faces in Krokotopia’s Karanahn Palace dungeon. Well, this time they can pack a punch, particularly in the top tier of the dungeon. Defeat them as quickly as possible, otherwise they’ll make your life miserable. For instance, some of their favourite spells include Storm Lord, Eirikur Axebreaker (the slow burning Coldfire Dragon), Choke, Monster Mash, Entangle (Life dispel), Feint and Infection. Aka has 4,150 HP, Ati has 4,300 HP, Meti has 4,395 HP, and Mkhai has 4,885 HP.

5) Time Butterfly

Doomsday Krok Gauntlet - Final Bastion (16)

An interesting battle with new mechanics. It took me some time to figure it out, but there is a pattern to follow here. Throughout this battle you will encounter several familiar faces if you quested through Arc 2 worlds. The Time Butterfly starts the battle on its own with 11,825 HP. However, as soon as combat starts it will start summoning minions with 4,300 to 4,395 HP. These minions need to first be defeated in order to ultimately defeat the Time Butterfly. Other than that, do watch out for some other minor annoyances, like Cleanse Ward, Stuns, and Pierce, as the boss loves to use them.

  • Feint Cheat – Feints will be switched unless protected. This means that a Feint will have the 70% on the wizard that cast it and the 30% on the boss. This can be countered with Indemnity.
  • Turn Order Cheat – At the end of every two rounds, the boss will interrupt and cast a Shadow spell AoE that donates a power pip to all enemies, including the boss. Then, it will lead to a switch the turn order, just like Mirage’s finale battle.

Doomsday Krok Gauntlet - Final Bastion (17)

  • Resummon Cheat – The butterfly will summon minions that will stop you from defeating the boss. The key here is to defeat the minions on their own, without attacking the boss. This will then allow you to defeat the boss. You can follow this strategy for a faster approach:
    • Defeat Minion 1
    • Round after Minion 1 is defeated, defeat the boss RIGHT AWAY
    • Boss will summon Minion 1 again along with Minion 2 before it dies
    • Defeat Minion 1 & 2
  • Late Cheat – If you join the battle late, the boss will interrupt cast a two round stun on the latecomer.

Bonus Boss – Cyberman…ders

Doomsday Krok Gauntlet - Final Bastion (18)

This battle is not required to finish the dungeon. However, I do recommend trying it out at least once. It consists of 4 Cybermander bosses of Ice, Fire, Balance and Myth schools. Balance has 12,090 HP, Fire has 11,825 HP, Myth has 11,825 HP and Ice has 13,190 HP. This battle is actually hidden and took me a few tries to locate. You can access it via the hidden teleporter behind the little pyramid next to the Oasis’ entrance. This teleporter is activated as soon as the manders are liberated from the cage. On top of that, each Cybermander can be extracted through monstrology. Cannot wait to collect them all and read the Cyberman references!

What are the drops?

All the gear and pets from the Doomsday Krok pack seems to drop from both Krokhotep and the Time Butterfly at an uncommon rate. On top of that, you can also get the Krokosphinx mounts from the Cybermander secret bosses in the beginning of the dungeon. The mounts drop from any tier no matter the level your wizard is. I’d say that is quite an amazing drop if you were to get it!

Additionally, Elemental Retriever and Smoke Screen Trained Tokens are reported to drop from Krokhotep and Time Butterfly. These tokens are used to unlock their respective talents from the Doomsday Krok Scarabs.

As an avid Doctor Who fan I found this gauntlet very captivating. The lack of a badge for completing the gauntlet disappointed me, but I can’t be too surprised, as we’ve seen this in other gauntlets as well. On the other hand, considering the theme and unique loading screen, the revamped Krokotopian graphics and audio, throwback to some familiar creatures, the monstrology extracts and the drops, this dungeon is an absolute must to try out or even obtain.
